CHARITY SWIM, East Coast Beach, 11th NOVEMBER 2012
Student Advisory Centre is organizing a charity
swim along Mactan Beach of Cebu,Phillippines.
We would like to invite you to take part in this
swim, and join us in our fund raising efforts for the various food, education
and financial assistance programmes run by the charity.
Swimming proficiency: Each swimmer is
required to pass a proficiency test based on the distance entered from the
chart below. The proficiency required is
to swim 6km, in 4 sets of 1500metre, in 40 minutes and below per set. 5 minutes
rest in between sets is allowable.
Swimmers taking part in the 5km swim, will be
required to complete a distance of 3km, in 2 sets of 1500 metre, in 45 minutes
and below per set. 5 minutes rest in between sets is allowed.
Exemption is allowed for participants who have
completed similar distances comparable to the time trial requirements within
the past 2 years.
The trial is compulsory for all other swimmers who
have not met similar distances before.
Trial dates and venue will be separately informed
to the swimmer at a later opportunity.
Cost of the swim : All cost are
paid for by the organization.
Fund Raiser:
As a fund raiser, each swimmer is expected to submit
10 valid and completed giro forms with a monthly contribution of at least $38,
2 months before the swim commences.

20th September).
If however, the swimmer prefers not to raise money
by giro, he or she can donate a sum of $500.
Funds raised goes towards the school based social
work support of the Student Advisory Centre, reaching out to at risk youths who
are at risk of dropping out of school or delinquent activities.
Cancellation of Entry: Due to the number of safety boats available, Entry to this event is strictly
limited to a selected few. As such, once registered, we would be unable to
accept new applicants upon the space has been taken.
It also means that we would be unable to raise funds
for our work with the charity through the now forsaken entry slot.
As a result, swimmers registered by 1th
of September would be required to raise at least S$200 for the swim as
compensation of cost even if he should withdraw.
How to Raise Funds:
You may raise funds through the following ways:
All swimmers are required to keep a tab on the
total sum of money collected to date. All funds raised will be tabulated and
collected by the 20th September 2012

The Charity:
Student Advisory Centre is a registered charity serving
children from needy and at risk backgrounds in Singapore
The three pillars of the charities work includes

Meal bursaries
-
Financial
assistance and
-
Education
intervention.
Each year, some 100 over schools apply to
SAC for funds for their kids via the abovementioned programs.
Supported largely via public donations, the charity
relies on the fund raising efforts of the public to redirect these funds raised
to the community.
